The US dollar gained on the euro and the Japanese yen during Wednesday’s trading but fell against the Great Britain pound. The session was rather quiet as US markets were preparing for the holiday.
Economic data released from the United States on Wednesday was somewhat mixed but mostly positive. On Tuesday, a report showed that the third quarter’s growth of the US economic was revised higher compared to the initial estimate. The positive indicators continued to fuel speculations about a December interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve.
The United States will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday. Markets will be closed during the holiday, resulting in slow trading a day before as market participants were reluctant to open new positions.
EUR/USD was down from 1.0641 to 1.0621 as of 23:37 GMT today, and its daily low of 1.0576 was the lowest since April 15. USD/JPY gained from 122.53 to 122.70. Meanwhile, GBP/USD advanced from 1.5079 to 1.5123.
